Not enough hot water? Capacity and predictive controls

Get more hot water from your Cala by changing its tank capacity or turning predictive controls off and on.

Updated October 31, 2026

If you regularly run short of hot water, you can tell Cala to keep more hot water in the tank. You do this on your Cala's screen, under TEMP CONTROL.

How it works

Cala's predictive controls learn how your home uses hot water and adjust the tank temperature to match. While predictive controls are on, Cala decides how much hot water to keep ready.

When predictive controls are off, or while Cala is still learning in its first month, Cala keeps the tank at the capacity you choose: NORMAL CAPACITY, HIGH CAPACITY or EXTRA HIGH CAPACITY. See Your first month: how Cala learns.

So when you choose NOT ENOUGH HOT WATER, your Cala shows one of two screens:

  • PREDICTIVE CONTROLS, if predictive controls are running. Turn them off to choose a capacity yourself.
  • TANK CAPACITY, if they aren't. Choose a higher capacity.

Open Not Enough Hot Water

  1. On your Cala's screen, press any button to wake it. The Home screen appears.

  2. Press Down until SETTINGS is highlighted, then press Select.

  3. Press Down until TEMP CONTROL is highlighted, then press Select. The TEMPERATURE SETTINGS screen opens.
