Your Cala keeps its own software (firmware) up to date. Updates download and install by themselves while your Cala is online, so there's nothing you need to do.
How updates work
- Updates install in the background whenever your Cala is connected to Wi-Fi.
- When an update finishes installing, your Cala restarts on its own.
- If a new version doesn't work properly after it installs, your Cala goes back to the version it was running before.
- There's no "check for updates" button. As long as your Cala stays online, it gets new versions automatically.

Updates during first-time setup
When your Cala is first connected, it checks for an update right away. Its screen shows FIRMWARE UPDATE with three steps: Check, Download and Install.
- If there's nothing new, it shows Already up to date and moves on.
- If there is an update, it shows Downloading update and then Installing update. Keep your Cala connected and powered. It restarts on its own when it's done.
- If the update can't finish, the screen says what happened and tells you to press Proceed. Press Select to continue setup; your Cala tries again later.
