Cala Systems Intelligent Heat Pump Water Heater
WHAT DOES THIS LIMITED WARRANTY COVER?

Cala Systems, Inc. ("Cala") warrants the Cala intelligent heat pump water heater, and its component parts, will be free from defects in materials and workmanship under normal use and service during the warranty period. This limited warranty is extended to the first buyer and to any subsequent owner(s) as long as the water heater remains installed at its original place of installation.

This limited warranty is the only warranty provided by Cala for the Cala intelligent heat pump water heater. No one is authorized to make any other warranties on behalf of Cala. ANY IMPLIED WARRANTIES, INCLUDING ANY WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, SHALL NOT EXTEND BEYOND THE APPLICABLE WARRANTY PERIODS SPECIFIED IN THIS LIMITED WARRANTY.
WHAT DOES THIS LIMITED WARRANTY NOT COVER?
  1. This limited warranty does not cover damage, failure, or other malfunction caused by:

    1. Failure to install the water heater in accordance with applicable building codes/ordinances or good plumbing and electrical trade practices.
    2. Improper installation or failure to operate and maintain the water heater in accordance with written instructions furnished with the unit.
    3. Operating the water heater in a corrosive or contaminated environment.
    4. Operating the water heater with an empty or partially empty tank (Dry Firing).
    5. Failure to install the water heater in accordance with applicable building codes/ordinances or good plumbing and electrical trade practices.
    6. Operating the water heater with the anode rod removed.
    7. Misuse, operation or maintenance contrary to the written instructions furnished with the unit, alteration, addition of non-approved components, or accidental or exterior damage.
    8. Excessive, unintended or non-residential use.
    9. Fire, flood, freeze, lightning, acts of God, and the like.
  2. This limited warranty also does not cover:

    1. Production of noise.
    2. Taste, odors, discoloration or rusty water.
WHAT IS THE PERIOD OF WARRANTY COVERAGE?
  1. This limited warranty runs from date of installation (or without proof of installation, from one
    (1) month after the date of manufacture) for the applicable period set forth below.

  2. The water heater and component parts are warranted for a period of ten (10) years and one (1) year labor if the water heater is installed in a single-family dwelling. If the water heater is installed anywhere other than a single-family dwelling, the warranty period will be limited to one (1) year from the effective date.

  3. Notwithstanding the foregoing, if the water heater is installed by a Cala Pro Contractor, and registered with Cala within 90 days from installation, the water heater and component parts will be warranted for a period of ten (10) years and three (3) years labor if the water heater is installed in a single-family dwelling. If the water heater is installed anywhere other than a single-family dwelling, the warranty period will be limited to one (1) year from the effective date.

All replacement water heaters and component parts carry the balance of the original warranty, i.e., if a water heater with a ten (10) year warranty develops a leak due to defects in materials or workmanship after nine (9) years, the replacement water heater or component part, as applicable, is warranted only for the balance remaining from the original ten (10) year warranty, or one (1) year in this example.
LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
THE REMEDIES DESCRIBED IN THIS LIMITED WARRANTY ARE YOUR SOLE AND EXCLUSIVE REMEDIES AND CALA’S ENTIRE LIABILITY FOR ANY BREACH OF THIS LIMITED WARRANTY. CALA’S LIABILITY SHALL UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES EXCEED THE ACTUAL AMOUNT PAID BY YOU FOR THE DEFECTIVE WATER HEATER, NOR SHALL CALA UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES BE LIABLE FOR ANY PROPERTY DAMAGE (INCLUDING DAMAGE FROM WATER LEAKAGE), INCONVENIENCE, LOSS OF USE, OR OTHER CONSEQUENTIAL, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES OR LOSSES, WHETHER DIRECT OR INDIRECT.

SOME STATES DO NOT ALLOW THE EXCLUSION OR LIMITATION OF INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, SO THE ABOVE LIMITATION OR EXCLUSION MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.

This limited warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may also have other rights, which vary from state to state.
WHAT WILL WE DO TO CORRECT PROBLEMS?
If a covered defect occurs within the applicable warranty period, we will either provide a replacement water heater of equivalent size or component part, as applicable, or, at our option, repair the defective water heater or component part.

We also will reimburse pre-approved labor claims during the applicable warranty period.
NOTICE:
  1. Sacrificial anode rods are consumable maintenance parts and are excluded from warranty coverage.

  2. We reserve the right to verify any claims of defect by inspection and to have the
    defective unit or part, as applicable, returned to us before providing a replacement.

WHAT WILL WE NOT DO?
  1. Replace and/or repair any water heater, or part, that was subject to any conditions outlined in "What Does This Limited Warranty Not Cover?"

  2. Replace and/or repair any water heater without a complete model/serial number.

  3. Replace any water heater without prior receipt of actual rating plate from appliance.

  4. Replace any part without prior receipt of the defective part.

WHAT SHOULD YOU DO TO KEEP THE WARRANTY IN EFFECT?
  1. Follow all instructions enclosed with your Cala intelligent heat pump water heater.

  2. Retain all bills of sale or receipts for proof of installation.

  3. Contact your installer or Cala as soon as any problem or defect is noticed.

  4. When necessary, allow us, or our authorized representative, to inspect the unit.

  5. Register your Cala unit at www.calasystems.com/warranty-registration.

  6. Retain this Limited Warranty and record below the Model and Serial Number found on the
    unit’s rating plate.
