I’m writing to you from our production facility in Wilmington, MA, where the team is heads-down preparing for Cala’s first deliveries - a milestone we’ve been working toward for years.
When we started Cala, we believed the heat pump water heater could do more than just heat water based on the temperature in the tank. With the right innovations, it could learn, adapt, and respond to your household’s needs. It could optimize for your family’s unique schedule and prioritize what matters to you - whether that’s saving money, reducing your carbon footprint, syncing with solar, or all of the above.
That vision is now becoming real.
We’re on track to begin deliveries around Labor Day, starting in the Northeast and expanding region by region through the end of the year and into 2026. Thank you for your continued patience as we finalize preparations for launch. Delivering a high-quality product and an outstanding experience remains our top priority.
Here’s a look behind the scenes at what’s been happening:
- Hardware & Software: Cala is undergoing extensive performance and reliability testing - everything from shake-platform tests to packaging validation - to ensure it’s built to last and ships safely. We’re also making rapid progress on the software, including our predictive algorithms. Our mobile app is live and being used in pilot homes, giving early users control over their hot water and feeding real-world insights back to the team.
- Pilot Installations: A select group of early users already has Cala installed in their homes. Their real-world feedback is helping us refine both the system and the app experience.
- Manufacturing: We’ve been validating every step of our assembly process in Massachusetts to ensure we’re ready to begin production.
- Certification & Compliance: Like any new home appliance, Cala needs to meet strict industry standards. We’re in the final phases of a comprehensive four-part certification process, which includes everything from controller and integrated product testing to electromagnetic compliance. We’re also preparing for Department of Energy tests to validate energy performance and hot water delivery - important milestones before we bring Cala into homes.
- Installers: We’ve built a strong Cala Pro Contractor network in our launch territory, and we’re onboarding more as we grow.
If you’re outside our initial delivery area, your reservation helps us prioritize where we go next. We’ll keep you posted as we expand and you’ll hear from us again when we get closer to your region; we will also update you regularly with product updates and early customer feedback.
Thank you for being part of this. The team and I are grateful for your early trust, and we can’t wait to deliver Cala to your home.
